A little on my background...

My name is Norma O. Garcia. I have been an educator for Sharyland ISD for 21years. I really enjoy teaching. My experience in teaching has phenomenal! I have taught 3rd, 4th, 2nd grade, and now Pre-k for 5 years now. Teaching is truly one of the most rewarding fields on the planet!  I am truly blessed to be part of this organization, H. Shimotsu Elementary, and working to help students succeed in life.

A little on my history before I became a teacher...

I earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Information Management Technology,  worked in that field creating webpages, databases, upgrading, and assisting the public with a variety of different application software. I worked in this field  for a several  years.  I then I went back to school and earned my second Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and Accounting.  I found time to go back to school, and I managed to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Network Information Management. I learned that in every field I was working, I was teaching and helping others become successful; therefore,  I decided to go back to school and get my education certification as an elementary teacher. The perfect field.  Every field has its rewards, however, teaching gives you an immediate reward every minute, everyday which is the reason I am here at school.

Education has been important in my life.  I instill in my students the power to learn by helping them build confidence and motivation in themselves. It is my expectation and goal to provide my students with the best learning experience.
