Mrs. Daisy Gutierrez

Hi! As I reach my 17th year of teaching, I can proudly say that I genuinely enjoy working with children and fostering a love for learning.  My students are what inspire me to continue to want to be a greater teacher.
In 2002, I earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  Edcouch-Elsa ISD is where I experienced my first year of teaching as a 1st grade teacher.  While my husband was proudly serving our country in the Navy, I continued my teaching career in Virginia Beach, VA as a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade teacher.  In 2008, my family moved back to Texas and I"jumped" into a 1st grade classroom at Shimotsu Elementary.  The next school year, I joined the 3rd grade team.  In 2009, my personal love for learning then drove me to earn a master's degree in Educational Leadership. Seven years ago, I faced a new adventure, and became a 6th grade teacher! During that time, I earned a School Counseling certification.
I look forward to using all the knowledge that I've gained throughout this educational journey in the classroom. Also, I am a firm believer that parent-teacher communication is an essential part of student success.  I am always and gladly willing to address your questions and concerns.  I look forward to a successful and very productive school year.
