I'd like to welcome you to third grade! This will be my 18th year of teaching in Sharyland ISD and my 9th year at Shimotsu. I've taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Teaching is my
passion and I'm very excited to start a new school year!
Originally
from Pennsylvania, I'm a big Steelers fan. I spent 4 years in
Cleveland where I earned a degree from John Carroll University in
Political Science and Spanish. After those long, freezing winters, I
spent a few years in Denver working in public and language schools and
skiing as much as possible. Then it was time to get warm so I moved as
far south as I could to the RGV.
I
worked for one year at a birth center in Weslaco, then five years at a
kidney transplant center in McAllen. All the while I was teaching ESL
and tutoring in my free time. The call to teach became so strong I
entered an alternative certification program, got my EC-4 Bilingual
Teaching Certificate, and have never looked back. I don't regret not
going directly into teaching, though, because the experience I gained
working in other areas has helped me in the classroom in so many ways.
I
have been an avid reader since elementary school, and that is the most
important gift I can share with my students. My favorite part of this
job is to help students develop their own love of books.
I
feel so blessed to get to do something I love every single day. Thank
you for entrusting me with your children. Working together we will
have a great year!
